I'm a 32DDâHere Are the Swimsuit Styles That Actually Work for Me
Swimsuit shopping, much like shopping for bras, always gets a little difficult for me. I'm a 32DD, and for some reason, it seems like the swimsuit industry is usually geared toward smaller sizes. But unlike my hatred for bra-shopping (why must I put so much effort into something that never sees the light of day?), I do actually love shopping for bikinis.
Over the years, I've become an expert on deciphering what's going to look good on me versus what my chest will immediately spill out of just by looking at a product image online. After much trial and error, the winning styles are, in no particular order, as follows: underwire, sporty, bandeau, and triangle. And within all those styles, I'm pretty specific on how I decide whether they'll be added to my cart. (Extra fabric plus a tie in the back is a winning combo in my books.)
Just because I can't hit the L.A. beaches quite yet, doesn't mean I'm not shopping for things to wear as I sunbathe on my balcony. Have a similar cup size as me or just looking for some really cute bathing suits to add to your swim drawer? Keep scrolling for 25 cute, DD-approved pieces.
Underwire TopsOnia Anna Bikini Top ($95)
A bikini top with underwire is actually one of my favorite styles if you get the right size and find the right style. I usually order one size larger than I normally would (I've noticed these styles tend to run a bit small) just so I have enough coverage.
L*Space Camellia Underwire Bikini Top ($50)
A top with a tie-closure is always a winner for me.
Charlie Holiday Lula Bra ($49)
A black underwire bikini? Chic and classic.
Peony Swimwear Balconette Bikini Top ($100)
More and more lavender pieces are getting added to my wardrobe on the daily, so of course, I'm eyeing this cute top.
WeWoreWhat Claudia Bikini Top ($95)
I love this top because the cup looks like it's bigger-bust friendly, plus the thick straps will do a good job of holding everything up.
Fendi Check & Pequin Stripe Two-Piece Swimsuit ($530)

If I dream hard enough, maybe this top will make its way into my swimsuit drawer?
Sporty TopsMadewell Second Wave Sport Bikini Top ($50)
A sporty-bikini style is such a good staple to have. This suit, in particular, is affordable; has adjustable straps, a supportive under-the-bust band, and removable cups; and comes in an array of sizes. Need I say more?
Sidway Swim The Susan Leopard Printed Bikini Top ($90)
Okay, it's official: I honestly don't think I've ever wanted a bikini top more.
L*Space Lee Lee Top ($99)
I have this top and always get a ton of compliments when I wear it. (Plus, my nickname growing up was Lee Lee, so it was pretty much made for me!)
Monday Swimwear Jamaica Top ($92)
The founders of Monday Swimwear, Devin Brugman and Natasha Oakley, both have bigger busts, so I honestly trust anything the brand puts out. This style is definitely making its way into my shopping cart this summer.
L.A. Hearts by PacSun Bianca Scrunch Square Neck Bikini Top ($27)
Looking for an affordable, on-trend bikini top? PacSun is here for you. Half of my swim drawer is made up of the brand's bikinis (because my wallet can't really keep up with my bathing-suit obsession). I have this top and let me tell you, you'll be obsessed once you buy it.
Peixoto Cleo Top ($74)
This doubles as a crop top and I'm so into it. Plus, you can't really beat the tie-dye print.
Solid & Striped Beverly Bikini Top ($89)
This is like a cross between a sporty and triangle style, and it's chic as hell. As a bonus, the chartreuse color is just so enticing.
Bandeau TopsSolid & Striped The Violet Top ($35)
I know a lot of women with bigger busts shy away from strapless tops, but it's all about the style you choose. While some don't have enough fabric to cover even half of my chest (even in the largest size), some have the perfect amount. In fact, this Solid & Striped suit has become an all-time favorite for me.
Hunza G Gabrielle Metallic-Weave Bandeau Bikini ($145)
Can we just take a moment to appreciate this metallic top?
Frankies Bikinis Jenna Bandeau Bikini Top ($48)
Again, make sure the suit appears to have a good amount of fabric (like this one).
Beach Riot Kelsey Bikini Top ($88)
Another plus of a bandeau style? It's perfect for minimizing tan lines.
Tularosa Felicity Top ($78)
As you can see, I never go for bandeau styles with ties in the front (the girls will fall out without a question), but this is a fun way to spruce it up.
Myra Swim Daria Bandeau Bikini Top ($70)
My roommate is obsessed with Myra Swim. I finally tried on one of her Myra swimsuits this past weekend, and I can't get over how soft the fabric is.
Triangle TopsH&M Triangle Bikini Top ($18)
Triangle bikinis are the trickiest to shop for, but it doesn't mean I won't try them. A lot of times, I'll look for ones that can be adjusted on the string so I can stretch the cup size.
Monday Swimwear Tulum Top ($87)
Again, I trust anything Monday Swimwear designs.
Mango Dots Bikini Top ($40)
Since this ties in the back, it's ideal for bigger busts.
Madewell Second Wave Bralette Bikini Top ($45)
Here's another great option that ties in the back.
Reformation Gulf Bikini Top ($68)
Who says you can't have your tie in the front?
Eberjey So Solid Vivian Bikini Top ($65)
This definitely has enough fabric for me not to worry about spillage.
